US Freeskiing Hits Alyeska (not a typo)

If you’ve never kicked back in canvas folding chairs and helped yourself to a cold one while witnessing the sickest cliff drops in North America, consider bunking up in Alyeska, Alaska from April 9-13. Because it’s the last chance to see firsthand the glorious competition know as the US Freeskiing Series

A little info from Mountain Sports International:

“The sixth and final stop on the 2008 Subaru US Freeskiing Series (USFS) arrives at Alyeska Resort, Alaska, April 9-13, for the Subaru Freeskiing World Championships. This event is also the third and final stop on the Freeskiing World Tour.

“Alaska provides the best terrain in the world for big mountain freeskiing competitions and we are thrilled to return to Alyeska Resort for the World Tour Finals and the Subaru Freeskiing World Championships,” said Adam Comey, President of Mountain Sports International. “We continue to see the athletes evolve this sport and look forward to more impressive skiing in Alaska. Even more, MSI’s new live broadcast coverage will deliver the action to a global audience in real-time.”

With approximately 200 competitors attending the Subaru Freeskiing World Championships at Alyeska, the current USFS points leaders Josh Daiek and Hannah Whitney, will have their work cut out for them as they try to hold onto their titles. Freeskiing World Tour point’s leaders Brett Crabtree and Jen Ashton hope to increase their lead on the international field of athletes. Other contenders vying for the $12,500 prize purse include 2007 World Tour runner-up Drew Tabke, Cliff Bennett, Kevin O’Meara, Chris Tatsuno, 2007 World Tour Champion Jess McMillan, Crystal Wright, Hannah Horrigan, Tanya Christensen and 2008 Subaru US Freeskiing Nationals Champion Jaclyn Passo. One of the most anticipated stops on the 2008 roster, registration for the Subaru Freeskiing World Championships filled in mere hours.
